Forest Ecology and Genetics Research Group

      Centro de Estudos Florestais - Instituto Superior de Agronomia

The research focus of the Forest Ecology and Genetics Research Group is to explore the structure and functioning of the main forest ecosystems by an integrated approach involving physiology, biochemistry and genetic methodologies, bringing together several groups of researchers with adequate and complementary expertise in these areas. Aiming at:

a) Improving knowledge on plant and ecosystem reactions to climate change and less human intervention;

b) Understanding and monitoring the effects of changes in climate and land use on biodiversity, wildfires, tree mortality and scarcity of water resources;

c) Developing planning tools to facilitate adaptation/change/restoration of forests and shrublands for long-term sustainability and optimization of benefits.
