The present project intends to analyse the life cycle of the system agriculture Crop/combustible Production (renewable energy)/Energy Distribution and Final Consumption, based on the utilization of agriculture crops ecologically adapted to the diverse ecological and climatic realities of the Atlantic Space with the main objectives of rural development, renewable energy production, increment of the environmental sustainability of the economical activities responsible for the greenhouse effect gases emissions and decrease of the energetic dependency from the exterior.

In operational terms, the project considers the following components and actions:

Agriculture Component

Comparative analysis of the technical and economical aspects related to the installation of the species Cynara cardunculus L., Arundo donax L. and Sorghum bicolor (L) Moench, in different regions of the Atlantic Space and under different crop installation and conduction alternatives;

Industrial and Laboratorial Component

Study and implementation of alternative of methods for the conversion of products obtained from the agriculture component, as for example the biomass burning, of the three considered species, for the production of energy at industrial level, alcohol production through sterification of the oil obtained from the seed of Cynara cardunculus and the production of alcohol obtained from Arundo donax and Sorghum bicolor.

Integrated Analysis Component

Integrated analysis of the technical and economical viability of the diverse alternatives and combinations of Species/Management Alternative/Industrial Transformation, considering the potential of environmental protection and preservation, rural development and legal conditioning, national and international, actual and future. Namely on what It refers to the Protocol of Kyoto, National Plans for Climatic Changes, community Market for the transaction of credits of carbon emission and goals for the penetration of renewable energies at a national and European level. This component foreseen also the building-up of a Supporting system for Decision integrated and interactive.

Divulgation Component

Divulgation of the project results and development of formation actions for the agents interested on the subject of this project.
