Actuais interesses de Investigação
- Development of new fungicides, non-toxic to man and the environment, in the fight against fungi pathogenic to man and plants.
- Plant genetic transformation to increase resistance against pathogen attack.
- Transcriptomic, Proteomic and Metabolomic studies on the interaction pathogen-host, with special reference to grapevine (Vitis spp.) and the main fungi that affect this crop: Uncinula necator (powdery mildew), Plasmopara viticola (downy mildew), Botrytis cinerea (Botrytis grey mould) and the fungi responsible for the so called wood diseases.
- Studies on the polypeptide composition during berry development and wine production and how environmental conditions during grapevine vegetative growth determine the major proteins that accumulate in mature grapes.
